Glastonbury Tor

There wasn’t a lot about this painting I liked. The sky is all wrong for the shadows on land. The hill lacks texture and depth. The fence is very 2 dimensional and the perspective on the road at the side is totally off.

The trees are ok but that’s a bit of a ‘phoned’ in performance. Lazy of me. Samme with the grass. I got halfway through this are realised it wasn’t working out so finished it quickly and moved on.

I think it is a view I will revisit in the future. After a bit of time elapsed I could see where the mistakes were and how to fix them. I”d change the composition for a start. I’d pull it all forward and to the right so the boring road doesn’t take up so much space. I’d make the Tor less central and closer so I could add some details. Better detailing on the foreground and fence would work too.
